Facts about Kent:

Favorite dish?

Fried shrimp. I also like steak and Tex-Mex, but I've only found good Tex-Mex in Texas.

Favorite football team?
I'm a huge Texas A&M fan. Now that I live in Alabama I'll be pulling for Alabama and Auburn. When we lived in Gainesville, Florida we were surrounded by Gator fans
and were friends with a couple of the UF coaches who went to our church.

Favorite vacation spot?
The beach, but I won't swim out too far because I don't like sharks.

Where did you meet your wife?
I met her when she was 17 at Glorieta Baptist Conference Center in New Mexico where we both worked on staff.  One day I saw her walking down the street littering.
That gave me an excuse to go talk to her and we got married two and half years later.  I showed her the error of her ways and she's never littered since then!

Things that drive you crazy?
Annoying singing commercials on TV like the FreeCreditReport.com ads.  I grab the remote and change channels whenever they come on.

"Little known facts" about you?
•   I interviewed former heavyweight boxing champion and "grill guy" George Foreman in his home for his book God in My Corner.
•   I attended seminary with Rick Warren (author of Purpose Driven Life) but that was before he was famous and he was skinny back then.
•   Mike Huckabee (Fox News talk show host and former Arkansas governor) was also one of my seminary classmates.
•   Davy Crockett is my great, great, great, great uncle.
•   I knew Texas governor Rick Perry when we were students at Texas A&M.
•   When I was in high school I played in a golf tournament with Ben Crenshaw, who later became a golf pro and won The Masters tournament.
•   Joel Osteen, TV pastor of 30,000 member Lakewood Church in Houston, grew up in my neighborhood about a mile from house.

Jobs you did before becoming a pastor?
I worked lots of jobs growing up and during college and seminary. I worked as a longshoreman unloading cargo from ships in Houston, in a factory making large
gaskets, as a store clerk in a pharmacy, as a janitor cleaning the men's dorm in seminary, loading UPS trucks, and I've mowed more yards than I care to count.

Things you like most about The Church of Living Water?
The people, without a doubt. Everyone is so friendly here! I also love the uplifting praise & worship songs and the informal atmosphere where we can worship God
together without it feeling "religious."
